Our winter just passed has certainly been some of the better fishing in recent years! The inshore and offshore grounds have been alive with Snapper to the point of disbelief. Many fish in the mid to high 80s calibre, caught on floating baits in burley trails and by fishing soft plastics on the drop. In between the Snapper madness, our local Mulloway population is thriving. We have been catching Jewies in new locations regularly this winter and they are always a welcome surprise! A mixture of techniques has been the go… vibes, soft plastics, live and dead baits. During the day, while the sun is well up, we have been consistently getting Kingfish on live baits; one fish stood out from the rest, a large however not so well conditioned 13kg fish. Fish like this are amazing sport and really know how to work an angler over on 15kg tackle.

As October comes to a close, the juvenile Marlin push down the coast and we begin to target them whenever possible. We have completed 2 marlin specific trips recently: our first trip went 2 from 2 on small fish and the second saw us go 2 from 6, as unfortunately our leader let go on some fish this trip but we certainly got the show we came for! Roll on summer we say!!!
Tight lines.
